The University of Cebu will take on four-time defending champion University of San Carlos for a spot in the finals against the University of San Jose-Recoletos on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022 in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center.
UC, a two-time champion, breathed life into their campaign with a convincing 3-0 win against a finals-bound USJ-R last Dec. 4, 2022. Man-of-the-match Paul Somoza got the first goal in the 43rd and Abell Backschadt made it 2-0 two minutes after the break. Daven Taneo got the final goal in the 90th.

The win improved UC’s tally to seven points, one against USC, while USJ-R already assured itself of a finals spot last week with two games to spare after tallying 10 points.
This means that against USC, UC needs to win finish at 10 points and get the second finals spot. USC only needs a draw to advance.
On the other hand, USJ-R will play USPF in its final game of the double-round robin elimination but the nine-time champions can afford to take a vacation as a heavy loss will still assure the Jaguars of a top two finish.

Meanwhile, the final two matches of the high school division will be played today with DBTC gunning for its sixth straight win against SHS-Ateneo at 10 a.m. to earn the title outright via sweep. In the second game, USJ-R will take on USC in a match that could determine the second placer.
A win by both DBTC and USJ-R means the Bosconians claim the title via sweep—the first team to do so—and USJ-R finishes second on seven points, relegating Ateneo to third place.
A loss by DBTC means the Bosconians will face Ateneo in the final.
