HEBER Alqueza posted his second straight podium finish in his another out-of-town stint after finishing third in the Mixed Open Division Finals of the 15th CKTBA NBT Open Bowling Championships.
Alqueza, who finished at third place in the 1st Metro Cagayan Invitational Open on Sept. 29, 2024, finished the elimination round at second place in the NBT Open after dropping 2,178 in 10 rounds, including 240 in the final frame and back-to-back 207s in the eighth and ninth round.
Alqueza, representing the Sugbuanon Bowlers United headed by his father Edgar, trailed first placer Marc Matias (2,236) and finished ahead of LJ Laderas (2,178), Jeff Carabeo (2,164), and Jesrael Rule (2,146).
In the first knockout round, Carabeo dropped 213 to beat Rule, the Cagayan champion who only scored 137 and Laderas, who managed 203.
In the next round, Carabeo scored 223, while ALqueza managed 207 to settle for third place. In the final, Carabeo ran out of steam and lost to a well-rested Mattias, 212-201.
