Ateneo, DB Liloan fight for semis spot; DBTC’s 13-0 win over CFC nullified

SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and Don Bosco Boys Home Liloan fight for a spot in the semifinals as they take on each other in Group B of the Philippine Football Federation U16 domestic qualifiers at the Dynamic Herb Football Stadium on Aug. 20, 2025.

Ateneo is at last place after losing its first game to current leader Don Bosco Technical College A, 4-1, while DBBH Liloan is third with a point after a draw with DBTC A.

If Ateneo, which has a -3 goal difference, wins by three goals, it could leap frog to second place, supplanting current No. 2 Cebu Football Academy via number of goals scored, while a narrow win by DBBH Liloan will have the Bosconians secure the second spot, next to DBTC.

Meanwhile, leader DBTC A face the danger of not advancing to the knockout stage after its 13-0 win over CFC Academy was nullified for fielding an ineligible player.

Both DBBH and SHS-Ateneo have a chance to finish with more than four points as both have yet to play CFC Academy.

In Group A, the University of San Carlos-Basic Education Department book a spot in the semifinal round after a 7-1 rout of Don Bosco Technical College B with the prolific Savio Bastian Lanozo scoring five goals.

Lanozo ran circles around the DBTC defense and scored a hat trick in the first 25 minutes before Zachary Fernandez got one for DBTC in the 41st.

Aeron Syd Joachim Opsima made it 4-1 in the 49th and Gabrile Franco Rossel added another in the 72nd before Lanozo capped his scoring spree with two more goals to book a spot in the knockout stage with a game to spare against Abellana National School.

WIN NO. 2. USC book a spot in the semifinal round after routing DBTC-B, 7-1.

ANS is currently second with three points and will advance to the KO stage regardless of its results against USC since BAST has withdrawn its team and DBTC B has lost its first two games.
