DBTC keeps perfect run with 5-0 rout of UP Cebu in Cesafi high school football

Favorites Don Bosco Technical Center stayed undefeated in the high school division while the University of San Carlos and the University of San Jose-Recoletos split the point to stay within each other in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football event at the Cebu City Sports Center.

CONTRAST. Ten-time champion USC fought to a 2-2 draw against USJ-R, while UP Cebu scored a late winner against USPF.

Earl Rey Amistad II scored a hat trick in the 12th, 35th and 46th minute to earn Player of the Game honors as DBTC blanked UP Cebu, 5-0, for their third straight win in the high school division.

Ray Agustine Abuzo got the first goal just five minutes in, while Yuki John Ceniza made it 2-0 in the sixth as DBTC stayed on front with a 3-0 record, while UP Cebu dropped to 0-2.

On the other hand, Sacred Heart School Ateneo de Cebu finally registered its first win after blanking San Carlos School of Cebu, 2-0, with John James Santos scoring both goals in the 50th and 59th minute to improve to 1-1 for the season. SCSC suffered its second straight loss.

In the college division, UP Cebu scored a late game winner against a game University of Southern Philippines Foundation, with Jabye Abasolo connecting in the fourth minute of stoppage time to open their season with an exciting win.

In the second game, 10-time defending champion USC and seven-time winner USJ-R settled to a 2-2 draw. Khalel Benabaye got USJ-R the lead in the 44th, before Kyle Marlon Giganto equalized for USC a minute after the break.

ALlister Louis Manlosa gave USJ-R the lead again in the 54th minute but Ludwig Ryan Badayos canceled it out in the 82nd minute.
