Five months after saying the long-delayed pay for the officials of the 2019 Cebu City Olympics will be released, the tournament managers who had to shell out their own money to make sure the event pushed through are still left waiting for their pay.
“They will receive it the soonest..That’s the direction,” City Legal Officer and City Hall spokesperson Rey Gealon told the Freeman on June 2.
Five months later, the pay have yet to be released.
“Wala pa. Ana kadugay, mag annivesary na lang sa Nov. 14,” said a tournament official who asked for anonymity.
The official said that they’ve been told almost every month for the past three months of the imminent release of their 2019 honoraria but nothing have come out of it.
“Sige raman ingun didto nga naa ra accounting…May’tag ma Merry Christmas na,” said the official. “Wait mi September, unya na end of October na sad, unya na early November. Karon, December na sad. Joke..joke na lang gi-lawa-lawaan na na diha.”
Tournament officials in 2019 where forced to secure loans to pay for their event’s referees to make sure the City Olympics would push through.
