Heber Alqueza bagged the third place honors in the Mixed Masters Category of the 1st Metro Cagayan Invitational Open Championship on Sept. 24 to 29 at the SM Bowling Center in Cagayan de Oro City.
Alqueza finished second in the elimination round after dropping 1,679, while fellow Sugbuanon Bowlers United member Jomar Jumapao finished fifth with 1,610.
However, in the step ladder competition, Alqueza lost to Crystal Chavez, 184-166 and in the final, Jesraael Rule defeated Chavez to win the crown.
Aside from the two, other Sugbu members who made the top 20 were Egay Alqueza, the father of Heber who had 1,480 for 16th place, Aui Padawan (1,447, 19th) and Maeng Viloria (1,409, 20th).
After Cagayan, the members of Sugbu will next try their luck in the Cavite Open on Oct. 2 to 6.
