The Philippines advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2026 Asian Women’s Cup, thanks to Japan’s 4-0 rout of Vietnam in Group A on March 10, 2026.

The Filipinas, who made the semifinals in the 2022 edition en route to making their maiden World Cup appearance, will be facing Japan in the quarterfinals on March 14.
Before the match, Vietnam and Uzbekistan were the two best third-ranked teams after the Uzbeks edged Bangladesh, 4-0, on March 9 to finish with three points and a -2 goal difference.
The Filipinas, on the other hand, also had three points and a -2 goal difference thanks to their 2-0 win over Iran on March 8, but Uzbekistan had the edge having scored four goals to the Philippines two.
However, thanks to Japan, the Philippines and Uzbekistan will advance to the knockout stage and more importantly, the Filipinas quest for a spot in the World Cup 2027 is also alive as six slots to the Brazil edition are up for grabs in the Asiad.
Making the quarterfinals also means the Filipinas advance to the 2028 Olympic Qualifiers as the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four
