Cebu FC secured their ticket to the Shopee Cup Group Stage after a decisive 3-0 home win against Kasuka FC last Friday, sealing a 4-2 aggregate victory in the playoff round.

The Gentle Giants came into the second leg with energy and determination, putting a constant pressure on the Kasuka defense early on. Their persistence paid off in the 24th minute when Esrom
Paulos found the back of the net. Initially ruled foul, the goal was later awarded after a VAR review, giving Cebu the breakthrough, they deserved.
Just two minutes later, Rico Andes doubled the lead with a clinical finish, sending the Cebu crowd into a roar. With momentum firmly on their side, Cebu carried a commanding 2-0 advantage into halftime.
In the second half, adjustments from Head Coach Glenn cemented Cebu’s dominance. Their relentless drive was rewarded in the 77th minute when Andes struck again, completing his brace and putting the game beyond reach. The 3-0 scoreline not only secured the win on the night but also confirmed Cebu FC’s progression to the prestigious Shopee Cup Group Stage.
“This victory is not just about advancing, it’s about showing the heart of Cebu football,” said Head Coach Glenn Ramos. “The boys worked hard, stayed disciplined, and believed in each other. Now we are ready to bring this fight to the next level.”
Team Spokesperson Evren Tasci echoed this sentiment, praising the collective spirit of the team.
It was not just about winning a game, but about proving what Cebu football is capable of.

Every player understood their role, and together we made history by securing our spot in the Group Stage. It was not just about winning a game, but about proving what Cebu football is capable of,” Tasci said.
Cebu FC will face Tampines Rovers FC of Singapore on August 20 in their first Group Stage match of the Shopee Cup. Tasci assures fans that the team is more motivated than ever.
“Fans can expect an even bigger fighting spirit and passion that brought us here, but also a team that is hungry to go further. Tampines Rovers is a strong side with great experience, and we respect that, but we are preparing well and will step onto the pitch with courage and determination. For Cebu FC, this is more than just a match, it’s a chance to represent Cebu and Philippine football on a bigger stage. Fans can expect us to give everything, play with heart, and make them proud.”
With their playoff triumph, Cebu FC not only secured their place in the Group Stage but also showcased the growing strength of Philippine club football on the international stage.
