CEBU FC head coach Glenn Ramos expressed confidence in his squad’s preparation and resilience as they face Malaysian powerhouse Selangor FC on Dec. 3, 2025 in their final group stage match of the Shopee Cup.
Reflecting on their previous outing in Vietnam, where the Gentle Giants fell 1–0 to Cong An Hanoi, Coach Ramos praised his side’s effort despite the narrow defeat.
“The team did a really good job in that game. Cong An is a strong team, but we managed well. Tomorrow (Today), we want to play an even better match against Selangor because we need to earn at least three points to stay competitive,” Ramos said.
Ramos emphasized that the team has worked extensively on both their mental readiness and on-field adjustments, especially with Cebu FC navigating the tournament without a few key players who have been called up for the SEA Games.
Despite the absences, the head coach remains confident in the depth of his 25-man roster.
“With the team we have, we can adjust and defend well against Selangor FC. Our young players have stepped up during preparation. They’re responding, they’re motivated, and tomorrow we will see how they perform against a strong Malaysian team,” Ramos added.
Cebu FC enters the match with positive momentum from solid performances in the Philippines Football League (PFL), where the squad has delivered consistently across their last seven league fixtures. The Gentle Giants are eager to bring that same energy into the Shopee Cup, especially in front of their home crowd.
“The team is highly motivated right now. We hope to fight hard and give the fans an exciting match,” Ramos said.
Cebu FC faces Selangor FC on December 3, 7:00 PM, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. A victory would keep the Gentle Giants firmly in contention as the group stage approaches its final stretch.
