CRFA names John Martin as new technical director

The Cebu Regional Football Association has appointed John Martin as its new technical director, tasked to oversee developmental activities of the coaches, referees, and players.

MLSDF PRODUCT. John Martin started his football journey in 2005 in Toledo City as part of the MLSF program of coach Graeme Mackinnon and Mario Ceniza.

“I’m deeply honored to be appointed as the new technical director by our FA president and I’m fully committed to working closely with our coaches to ensure they’re on the right pathway,” said Martin.

A product of the vaunted MLSDF program, Martin started his journey in Toledo City under Coach Mario Ceniza and Grame Mackinnon, Martin said football allowed him to earn a college degree and support his parents.

After becoming a part-time coach in Giuseppe FC in 2007, he made coaching a fulltime job two years later, earning his AFC C License in 2010.

“Initially, I am humbled by the responsibility to lead and it’s a big challenge, but I’m eager to collaborate with the association to stay on track and drive the growth of Cebu football coaches,” he said.

Martin took his AFC B License in 2016 and finished the AFC Elite Youth Coaching Course in 2017. He also assisted the coaches from FC Barcelona during their training camp in Cebu in 2018.

In 2019, he earned his PFF A Diploma.

“Despite financial challenges, I completed the PFF A diploma…Driven by my gratitude to the players and people who believe in me, I am now committed to serve the CRFA as its technical director.”
