Kyle Ace Donaire pulled a double duty in leading the Carmen Stallions to the title of the 18-Under Division in the First Carmen Fiesta Baseball C up at the Carmen Oval on Aug. 18 to 21.
Donaire struck out five and didn’t allow a single run in three innings at the mound, while in his first turn at the plate, he hit a triple to send Jodell Hace Villamor and Clyton Stue Lao home for a 2-0. Donaire also had a run in the second inning, while in the second Villamor scored a homer and Michael Douglas Patigdas added another homer in the third as Carmen took a comfortable 6-0 lead.
Donaire gave way for Lao in the fourth inning but the relief pitcher only had to work for an inning as the game was stopped. Carmen enjoyed a twice-to-beat edge in the final, having beaten Cebu City earlier but the hosts only needed one game to seal the title.
Meanwhile, Sogod took the third-place trophy.
In the 13-Under Division, JDN Umbros took the title after beating the Stallions, while Oponganon got the third place trophy.
