THE Filipinas will be shooting for a big win against Malaysia today as they aim for a return to the semifinal round in women’s football of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.

The Philippines is at third place in Group B on three wins after a loss and a win against Vietnam, which also has three points. However, Vietnam is at the No. 2 spot, thanks to its 6-0 win against Malaysia on opening day, a victory the Filipinas will be hoping to surpass.
Myanmar, which is already assured of a spot on the semis, will be taking on Vietnam also today.
A win by both Myanmar and the Philippines will see both teams advance to the semis but if Vietnam beats Myanmar, the second semifinal spot in the group could go down to goal difference.
The Philippines lost in its debut to Myanmar but kept its semifinal hopes alive with a last-minute win against Vietnam, with Mallie Ramirez scoring deep in injury time.
“This win by the Filipinas against Vietnam is a testament to their World Cup quality and the immense growth of women’s football in the Philippines for the past decade,” PFF president John Gutierrez said.
