PBBM orders creation of Task Force for Fifa Futsal Women’s World Cup

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the creation of a Task Force to oversee the country’s hosting of the Fifa Futsal Women’s World Cup later this year.

FUNDING. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also ordered that funds be made available for the Task Force.

The Task Force will be headed by the Philippine Sports Commission, with the Department of the Interior and Local Government as vice chairperson.

The members are the Departments of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Budget and Management, Health, Information and Communications Technology, Public works and Highways and transportation. Other members of the Task Force are the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Immigration, MMDA, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and the Presidential Communication Office.

In an executive order creating the Task Force, President Marcos also ordered, “The amounts necessary for the implementation of this Order shall be charged against any available funding of the agencies concerned subject to existing budgeting, accounting, and auditing laws, rules and regulations.”

The Philippines was picked as host of the Fifa Futsal Women’s world Cup with Pasig and Victorias City picked as host cities. Sixteen teams, including the Philippines, will be competing in the event scheduled on Nov. 21 to Dec. 7.

“We are extremely proud of this milestone and we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the local governments of Pasig City and Victorias City for their invaluable support in providing a truly unforgettable experience for the participating teams, the fans and the Filipino community,” Philippine Football Federation John Gutierrez said in a press release posted on Fifa.com.
