Sinclair, Stopgap, and Smartbond kicked off their respective campaigns in the Buildrite Cup 2024 in style, capturing victories during the opening salvo of this tournament that brings together licensed engineers and architects, on Sept. 20, 2024 at the University of San Carlos gym.
Sinclair, a team composed of architects, stopped Rubberstop, 55-49, thanks to the efforts of Miguel Cenabre, who had 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Adrian Damole helped out with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
In other games, Stopgap handily defeated Readycrete, 83-56. Archie Araw-Araw spearheaded Stopgap’s attack with 14 points, eight assists, two steals, and two rebounds. Ralph Labora and Ruben Latonio also helped out with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Lastly, Smartbond thwarted Blockout, 67-60. Ivan Deo was the star of the show, scoring 26 points to go with four rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
The 12 teams have been divided into two brackets and they will play a single round-robin in their respective brackets. The top four teams in each will advance to the crossover quarterfinals. The winners will then advance to the semifinals and then, the finals. (Contributed by Jonas N Panerio)
