Sordilla rallies UC over CIT-U in Cesafi collegiate hoops 2025

THE University of Cebu Webmasters defeated the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 74-63, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Incorporated Season 25 Basketball Tournament at the New Cebu Coliseum.

Ricofer Sordilla rallied the Webmasters to a five-point swing to erase a 50-54 disadvantage in the opening minute of the final period.

UC posted a comfortable 14-point lead in the ensuing plays and never looked back to secure the victory.

Sordilla, who finished with 17 markers, five steals and two assists, copped the Best Player of the Game honors, while Danie Boy Lapis and Ray Charles Libatog added 11 and 10 points respectively for the Kern Sesante-mentored UC squad. UC now joins opening day winners University of San Carlos and Benedicto College for the early lead in the double round robin elimination.

CIT-U was led by Serafin Duarte, who had 21 points while Jerian Marc Abello and Keirth Khodie Piodo contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

CIT-U, coached by Donbel Belano, now shares an identical 0-1 win-loss card with University of the Philippines Cebu and University of San Jose Recoletos.

In the High School Division, the University of the Visayas Baby Lancers showed their might as they pummeled Benedicto College Baby Cheetahs, 76-48.

Alexander Jose Ejurango exploded with a double-double performance of 13 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and three blocks to lead the legendary coach Jun Pepito to a rousing debut this season.

Llyco Ventura added 11 for the Baby Lancers, while Lance Andrei Villarin was the most productive with 12 markers for the losing Baby Cheetahs. (Contributor King Cortel)
