ARTHUR Tapaya finished second in the elimination round then went on to rule the September edition of the Sugbuanon Bowlers United monthly tournament at the SM Seaside Bowling Center on Oct. 6, 2024.
Tapaya dropped 1,111 pins in the elimination round, including an impressive 268 in the final frame to grab the No. 2 spot next to GJ Buyco, who had 1,160 after breaching 200 in four of the five rounds.
Rey Velarde got third place with 1,109, while Uew Schulze finished fourth with 1,087 just five ahead of Luke Bolongan.
The other bowlers who made the top 10 are Nestor Ranido (1,048), Vivian Padawan (1,016), Chris Ramil (986), Robert Sarvida (981), and David Pena (977).
In the first round of the knockout phase, Bolongan stunned fourth placer Schulze, 196-181, then went on to eliminate third placer Velarde, 194-137.
In the semifinal round, both Tapaya and Bolongan dropped 222 with Tapaya advancing thanks to his handicap. In the championship round, Tapaya handedly defeated Buyco, 221-188, to win the monthly honor, earning a seat in the grand final later this year.
