The collegiate division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football tournament will have a finals after the leaders fought to a draw, while the Don Bosco Technological Center (DBTC) is now the only team with a chance to win the title outright via sweep.
DBTC, the defending champion, ran circles around the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) defense, 3-0, in a match that was highly entertaining for both action on the field and the interaction by fans. Edgar Paredes got one for DBTC in the third minute before eventual Man-of-the-Match winner Simon del Campo added another two minutes after the exchange. Carlsten Pumareja added the final goal in the 80th.
Cesafi uses the double round robin format with the top two advancing to the finals. However, a team that wins all elimination round games will be crowed champions automatically and with two straight wins, DBTC still has a chance to win the title outright if it wins the remaining four games.
In the other high school contest, the University of San Carlos (USC) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu fought to a 0-0 draw, an even match that had both teams earning chances to score. According to coaches Nino Zapanta (USC) and Kidd Nicart (Ateneo), who watched the USC vs. USJ-R game together, both teams failed to take advantage of their scoring opportunities in the contest.
DBTC leads the division with six points, while Ateneo, which was at No. 1 on goal difference after week 1, dropped to second with four points. USC is still at third with a point, while USJ-R stayed at No. 4 with 0.

On the other hand, USJ-R, which holds the most number of titles, showed their grit after coming back to hold defending champion USC to a 1-1 draw in the college division. Junrey Calinposaw got the Warriors on top in the fifth for an early lead but couldn’t add more. USJ-R had a chance to equalize twice, a well-struck 25-yard free kick late in the first half that went straight to the keeper and an early second half penalty that was also collected.
However, Kirk Dustine Alabate, who was named MOTM, made sure not to miss with a rebound in the 60th for the draw. The Warriors had a chance to get the go-ahead late but their striker, with only the keeper, to beat mishandled a pass and his shot went nowhere, leading coach Jinggoy Roa to scratch his head in the sidelines.

In the second game, Roberto Aguilar and John Olegario had one each in the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USPF) 2-1 win over the University of Cebu (UC). UC, which as two titles, had its goal courtesy of Perez (no first name provided).
USC and USJ-R, which has won 17 of the last 20 Cesafi crowns, share the lead with four points on identical 1-1 win-draw records. Both also have the same number of goals scored (3) and goals allowed (2). USPF is third at three points, while UC is last, having lost its first two games.
