Cebu’s promising footballers are expected to join the festival of football tournament organized by the Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) on Jan. 29, 2023 at the Dynamic Herb Football Stadium.
The tournament, which will be for the Boys U13 and U11 and Girls U14 and U12 divisions, serves as the CVFA’s selection process for its four teams that will participate in the Regional Festival of Football tournament, which it is also hoping to host.
The teams in the Boys U11 division are BAST FC, Cebu United, Corona del Mar, Cebu FC Academy, DB Liloan Boys, SHs Ateneo, Guardian Striker, Sheba FC, Springdale Titans and Don Bosco Technology. The U13 entries are DBTC, Abellana National School, Springdale, Corona del Mar, CFC, DB Liloan, SHS-Ateneo, Guardian Striker, Sheba FC, BAST FC, Cebu United FC and Giuseppe.
The teams in the Girls 14 divisions are Guardian Striker, Cebu United, ShS Ateneo, DB Liloan Girls, Razkals FC, and Sheba FC, while the U12 entries are Guardian Striker, Cebu United FC, Giuseppe, DB Liloan Girls, Razkals FC.
CVFA president Rodney Orale said he is hoping Cebu gets to host the regional tournament so the local teams won’t have to travel to San Carlos City, which has hosted the event that serves as the selection process for national youth teams for close to a decade.
A day before the tournament, Cebu will also host the Visayas tryouts for the Girls U17 and U20 teams at Dynamic Herb, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“This is for the whole Visayas and we are expecting players from Dumaguete, Iloiilo, Bacolod, Leyte and Samar,” said Orale.
