MJ Villa and Rommel Calipay finished strong in the four-round contest to win the weekly doubles event of the Sugbuanon Bowlers United at the SM Seaside Bowling Center on Oct. 13, 2024.
Villa and Calipay scored 454 in the final round, to finish with 1,570 to win the weekly contest. The champion’s 454 was 32 more than the 422 of eventual second placer, Arthur Tapaya and Rene Ceniza, who eventually finished with 1,558, 12 pins off the second placer.
Villa and Calipay tallied 412 in the first round, the second best score, and had 347 and 357 in rounds 2 and 3.
Aui Padawan and Jomar Jumapao finished at third place with 1,547 on scores of 405, 413, 350 and 379, while Roy Esolana and Richard Turner got fourth place at 1,544.
Noli Valencia and Egay Alqueza got fifth place with 1,534 getting the best score in Round 3 at 389, while sixth placer Johnwick Gabataya and Luke Bolongan started strong and actually had the lead in the first two rounds with 422 and 425 but lost steam in the final two rounds with 332 and 348 to settle for sixth place.
The rest of the top 10 pairs are Vivian Padawan and Mark Hodgkinson (1,503), Ted Convocar and Lemuel Paquibot (1,461), GJ Buyco and Heber Alqueza (1,458) and Manny Bueno and Nestor ranido (1,415).
On the other hand, the top two winners in each round were Gasataya and Bolongan (422) and Villa and Calipay (412) in Round 1, Uwe and Robert (456) and Gasataya and Bolongan in Round 2, Alqueza and Valencia (389) and Padawan and Hodgkinshon (385) in round 3 and Calipay and Villa (454) and Ceniza and Tapaya (422) in Round 4.
