THE Lapu-Lapu City Heroes Men’s and Women’s Open teams had a double celebration as they swept both categories during the Patid Para Sa Kapatid (Kick For A Cause) football festival at the MABES Oval on Oct. 12, 2025.

The men’s team posted a 4-1 record in the group stage to advance to the semis, beating Canduman,1-0, Hermanos, 2-0, and Opon FC B, 1-0. Its lone blemish was against Ninja, 1-0.
In the semis, Harry Lomadilla, a former-two sport star and valedictorian from Dole Philippine School of Polomolok, South Cotabao, relived his glory days some three decades and 50 pounds ago as he saved the final spot kick for a 3-2 win against Opon FC B via shootout.
In the final, it was Robert Sepe’s turn to wear the hero’s cap as he scored the lone goal in a highly-charged affair with LCIC, 1-0, to seal their win. Aside from the two, the other players of the team are Urbano Lacar Jr., Marlito Lozano, Christian Brillo, Lopito Tumulak, John Dave Regner, Philip Gacrama,Yokz Hilot Ayoco, and Marlon Manguiran.
“Lacar, Loops and Dave played really good defense and Robert and Marlito were really effective on offense. The team was very balanced,” said Lomadilla.
Meanwhile, its women’s team won its second crown in the space of two months after going undefeated in the double round league format, posting three wins and three draws.
The Heroes defeated Open FC, 3-0, and 1-0, and BK FC, 1-0, and had scoreless draws with LCIC (twice) and BK FC.

The squad, which won the Soccer Moms division in the VP Challenge Cup last August, is made up of Leny Mae Cuizon, Mailyn Lozano, Leise Pauline Bacla-an, Christine Mantos, Jennibeth Bicbic, Anafe Jane Lopez, Michelle Amagsila, Kat Magante, Raquel Brillo, and Daisy Gildo.
