Norfa lauds youth team’s runner-up finish in Thailand tournament

THE Negros Occidental Regional Football Association (Norfa) lauded the first runner-up finish of the Maranatha Christian College-Centurions in an international tournament in Thailand recently.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARD. Norfa president Miggy Valmayor said the MCC Centurions runner-up finish in Thailand shows the quality of football in the region is world class.

The MCC-Centurions, led by coaches Christian Earl Bona and Joel Rerner Guay, finished second in their group at the SHE Cup Thailand, which is organized by the International Football League.

“We are very proud of this achievement. Finishing as 1st Runner-Up in an international tournament shows that talents from Negros and Bacolod are truly world-class,” said Norfa president Miggy Valmayor.

The team is bannered by MCC regulars Hannah Bagomboy, Nathalie Rhaine Andres, Yannah Marie Amar, Marinel Gonzales, Princess Myel Deferia, Cyrlizene Ibanez, Quirah Antonette Relos, Marcela Tricia Lachica and Reinna Marcelino and regional selection standouts Janezza Merliah Gerafil of Silay Lokal FC and Leighton Glenilou Fuentebella of Pamplona de Pontevedra FC

“This team gives hope to our football ecosystem—that with the right support and mindset, anything is possible. We congratulate the players and coaches, and we encourage them to continue being an inspiration to the next generation,” said Valmayor.
