The finals of the Palarong Pambansa football bubble tournament will be an all-Bosconian affair after Don Bosco Boys Home sealed the second finals spot in exciting fashion, beating Abellana National School (ANS) via shootout to finish second place.
Earlier, Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Cebu Inc. secured the top spot after routing ANS, 3-0, in the morning and beating Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 1-0, in the afternoon to finish with a perfect 9 points in the elims.
After a scoreless first half, Richard Songalia got the opening goal in the 38th, while Gianrenzo CUstado and Joross Tabar scored in the 51st and 53rd minutes to complete the rout. Against Ateneo, it was Sirach Nemenzo who delivered the goods for DBTC.
On the other hand, Joshua Ares lifted DBBH over Ateneo in the morning match, 1-0, setting an exciting clash with ANS in the final match of the qualification round.
At that point, both ANS and DBBH had 3 points with DBBH enjoying a better goal difference. Abellana scored first but a last-minute equalizer sent the match to a shootout. Abellana, again had the lead in the shootout but DBBH recovered and won, 4-3, to set a finals date with DBTC Cebu on May 6 at 10:30 p.m. Abellana will play Ateneo for third place at 7 a.m.
