After two years of online and modular classes, kids who started school at the height of the pandemic have missed out on one crucial thing–making friends.
Talisay City mayor Samsam Gullas hopes to correct that with a month-long free sports and performing arts seminar for the children of Talisay.
The monthlong seminar will have basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, karatedo, swimming, boxing, badminton, volleyball and football as well as guitar, voice and arts.
Former University of the Visayas legend Ronald Bucao, whose team just won the CYBL Summer Showcase tournament, will lead the basketball clinic, while Joel Patigayon will lead the volleyball clinic. Gideon and Rasheed Bacus are in charge for boxing, while Marlon Mariscal will head the tennis sessions. Dave Estremos will lead the football clinic, while Armel Loon will lead the badminton sessions. Ronald Remolino will take charge of the swimming lessons.
“Children need to interact with other children. Children need to make friends with others. We can only do that through face to face classes and sports. I am supporting both. We must live with Covid,” said Gullas.
Those who want to join the clinic, which is for seven to 12-year-olds, may register by visiting the Talisay City Sports Commission facebook page. The clinic will start on July 4 and end on July 29.
