Sugbu Calidad and Sacred Heart School Ateneo de Cebu won the Players 8 and 6 divisions in the opening day of the 26th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Dynamic Herb Sports Complex.
Gianluka Capacite had one goal in their 2-1 win over Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, earning the MVP title in the division.
On the other hand, Jace Co and Bobson Obamos got the Best Midfielder and Best Defender awards for Sugbu Calidad, while Benedict Edward Lim got the Best Striker title for Ateneo. Nicolo Cabardo of third placer Cebu Football Club Academy was named the Best Goalkeeper.
In the Players 6 Division, Sebastian Lee scored twice in SHS-Ateneo’s 4-1 win over Giuseppe FC to earn the Best Striker and MVP awards. Teammates Kaiden Penensoro and Michael Butalid got the Best Goalkeeper and Best Defender awards, while Zoey Ampo-on of Giuseppe was named the Best Midfielder.
