Paquibot rules SUGBU’s monthly tournament

LEMUEL Paquibot finished second in the elimination then upped his game in the knockout round to rule the November and December editions of the Sugbuanon Bowlers United monthly tournament at the SM BOwling Center on Dec. 8, 2024.

CHAMPION. Electrical engineer Lemuel Paquibot is all smiles after ruling the November and December editions of the SUGBU Monthly bowling tournament.

Paquibot, who scored a high of 216 in the fourth game, finished with 1,046 in the elims to finish second behind Robert Sarvida, who scored an impressive 1,132 after averaging 216 in the elimination round.

Noli Valencia, the former Cebu Province administrator, got third place with 1,037, just 10 ahead of former national team player Jomar Jumapao.

German Uwe Schulze got fifth place with 1,022 after scoring 213 in the fifth frame, while youth bowler Joma Avila got sixth place with 1009.

Nestor Ranido got seventh place with 996, while youth standout GJ Buyco got the final playoff spot with 992.

In the first round of the up-the-ladder elims pitted Buyco, Ranido, Avila and Schulze with Avila advancing after dropping an impressive 226, the only one to breach the 200-mark.

Ranido settled for 186, while Schulze and Buyco had 177 and 160, respectively.

TOP 8. The top eight finishers of the elimination round who advanced to the up-the-ladder knockout phase.

In the second round, Avila continued his stellar form, dropping 240 to beat Jumapao, who managed a decent 193.

However, Avila finally ran out of steam in the third round and lost to Valencia, 196-162.

In the semifinal round, Paquibot, an electrical engineer, earned his spot in the final with a close eight-pin win after scoring 173 to Valencia’s 165.

Paquibot upped his game in the final round and dropped an impressive 213 to beat Sarvida, who only managed 162.

However, Sarvida will still get to advance to the battle of monthly champions as he will be the representative for December.
