With the private sector cashing in on Hidilyn Diaz’s popularity, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) reminded them that only the Olympic partners are authorized to use the Olympic Rings, Tokyo Olympic Logos and the POC Logo.
The commercial use of the Olympic logo is one of the revenue streams of the POC and while it appreciated the outpouring of support for Diaz, it said in a tweet that any unauthorized use of “IOC, Olympic or POC assets will be subject to civil and/or criminal liability.”
The IOC even has rules on how non-Olympic partners must behave commercially when it wants to congratulate athletes.
