The Philippine Taekwondo Association-Region 7 will host the Regional Age Group Taekwondo championships at the SM Seaside City on Dec 10 and 11. The two-day event will have over 600 participants from Bohol joining the sparring and poomsae events.
Grandmaster Sung Chon Hong, the CEO of the PTA and acknowledged father of Philippine taekwondo, will be gracing the event. Poomsae national team coach Rani Santiago will also lead a demonstration with the national team during the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. Santiago is a former poomsae world champion and has won several best coach awards in various competitions abroad.
According to PTA 7 head Tony del Prado the number of entries for this year is the biggest in the event’s history. Del Prado has help produce a number of Cebuano jins who made it to the national team, with Rinna Babanto among the latest products.
