Steady Celis tows Landmasters to top spot; Contado makes Green Rose see red in Tisa upset

The CHBC-Cebu Landmasters leaned on the steady performance of Raffy Celis to zoom to the top spot in Group B, while Tisa used a third-quarter run to stun the favored Green Rose in the second week of the Cebu Youth Basketball League-Summer Showcase at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club basketball court.

The Landmasters survived Green Rose, thanks to Celis’ 24 points on an impressive 10-of-11 shooting. Eugene Angtud also had impressive numbers for Green Rose with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals.

UNDEFEATED. The CHBC-Cebu Landmasters won their first three games in the CYBL Summer Showcase to take the top spot in Group B.

The Landmasters got their second win against Tisa, 55-40, with Celis putting up 18 points and 12 rebounds along with two steals and two blocks. Glenn Contado led Tisa with 12.

Jelo Rota took over for the Landmasters in win No. 3, a 105-37 shellacking of BETC, as he finished with 17 points and nine rebounds.

The Landmasters lead the Group with a 3-0 record, while Tisa is second with a 2-1 card. After losing to the Landmasters, Tisa got its second win, 57-48, against Greenrose, thanks to a 15-0 run to end the third quarter. Glenn Contado had 17 points, six repounds and five steals, while Ali Duero chipped in 15 points.

Angtud led Green Rose anew with 12 points. Tisa’s other win was against BETC, 62-48, with Contado leading the charge with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals. Kier Barrita had 14 points and six rebounds for BETC.
