HEBER Alqueza ended the run of lower division winners as he won the Sunday Shootout of the Sugbuanon Bowlers United on May 25, 2025 at the SM Seaside Bowling Center.
Alqueza, who has just recovered from a heel injury, topped Division A with 813, thanks to a 222 in the third game. He finished nine pins ahead of John Gasataya, who equaled Alqueza’s 206 in the first round but faltered with a 177 in the second round.
Danny Sabang finished at a distant third with 782, despite starting at first place in the first round after scoring 212.
In Division B, Luis Cajes took first place with 841, scoring 230, 223, and 212 in the first three rounds, while Rommel Calipay scored 785 to edge out the newly-promoted Dory Enoveso, who finished with 780. Calipay had 222 in the final round while Enoveso had 159 for the five-point edge.
In Division C, Feben Landazabal posted a narrow three-point win over Johna Calipay, 661-658, while Orly Enoveso finished third with 656.
In the shootout, Alqueza was a class above the division winners as he scored 200, while Cajes and Landazabal had 183 and 180, respectively.
Alqueza’s win is a perfect preparation for the bowler as he will be suiting up for the Bowler of the Month tournament next week and the Negros Open in Bacolod City.
