Contado, Imbong lead Tisa Basketball over GAA in CYBL Summer Showcase quarterfinals

Domenic Jimenez delivered when it counted most while Glenn Contado’s and Tracy Imbong’s stellar play all game long lifted Tisa Basketball against GAA, 75-69, in the quarterfinal round of the CYBL Summer Showcase at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club basketball court.

Tisa Basketball will face Ballerhood in the semifinals, with the winner going up against the winner of the exciting Green Rose vs. Cebu Landmasters clash in the finals. Ballerhood earned a walkover win over BETC, 20-0, in the first quarterfinal.

SOLID OUTING. Tracy Imbong (No. 8). only missed two shots and made five free throws in an 16-point outing for Tisa Basketball in the quarterfinal round.

Tisa Basketball had a narrow, 20-19, lead at the end of the first quarter and was still ahead, 24-21, midway into the second but Johnray Gorre and Ray Christian Catacutan teamed up to put GAA up front at the end of the first half, 34-32.

Tisa started strong in the second half to go up by nine, 45-36, but GAA answered with a 13-5 run to end seize a 50-49 lead with a quarter to go. GAA had another strong start, 16-5, in the fourth quarter to seize the lead by five before Tisa Basketball finally found an answer, ending the match with an 8-0 run for the six-point win.

Jimenez, who missed his first three shots of the game, sank two corner jumpers in that run to seal the victory.

Contado finished with a game-high 24 points for Tisa, while Imbong had 16. Catacutan had an impressive 28 points for GAA, dropping 12 of 18 shots from the field, while Gorre had 19 on a 9 of 13 conversion. With the loss, GAA is relegated to the lower division consolation game.
