THE Lapu-Lapu City Heroes FC added two more pieces to their growing silverware trophy case as they finished runner-up in the U11 and U19 divisions of the Referees Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center over the weekend.
The U11 squad, made up of Devin Jasper Gildo, Kyle Nakagawa, Mark Daniel Bacla-an, Rua Hoshino, Asriel Josh Heredia, Nathaniel Scott Sucia, Kon Luke Lim, Dovin Shin, Yno Javen Nudalo, Denver Himaya and U9 regulars McJonston Singh and Spencer Sven Lomadilla, went undefeated in the group stage with four wins and one draw.
They defeated Lapu-Lapu City, 2-1, Don Bosco FC, 1-0, Cebu United, 2-1, and Opon FC, 5-0, and earned a draw with Subangdaku.
In the quarterfinal round, the Heroes outlasted Makati FC B, 2-1, and then went on to beat MG FC Talamban, 2-1, to book a seat in the finals.
However, the team fell short in the championship match and lost to Makati FC A, 1-0.
In the Under 19 division, the team of John Lennon Dela Serna, Rylle Ancajas, Khent Vincent Sotto, Kevin Clyde Ybañez, Kyle Pasarda, Christopher John Montesioso, Anthony Rey Ontong, Louisse Dave Reman, Xhyrxish Jake Aguanta, Justine Bregente, Kenneth Mananquil, and Obama Cabuena made it to the finals after posting two wins, one loss and a draw in the group stage.
The Heroes defeated Cebu United and San Roque A, 1-0, and had a scoreless draw with Argao Arch. Its lone loss was against San Roque B, 2-0.
In the finals, the Heroes managed to score once but again San Roque B hit them for two goals for a 2-1 win.
