A week after making it to the quarterfinals in their first stint in the Delmonte Football Cup, the Lapu-Lapu City Heroes booked a semis seat in the U9 division of the Referees Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center over the weekend.
The team, made up of McJohnston Singh, Spencer Sven Lomadilla, Daren Himaya, Seth Daniel Gacrama, David Gad Inso, Samantha Sassik, Eyana Rhaine Brillo, Alfredo Dizon III, and Zion Drake Hinoguin, finished undefeated in the group stage after defeating San Carlos School, 4-0, Subangdaku, 2-0, and Don Bosco FC B, 2-0, to advance to the quarterfinal round.
In the quarterfinal round, the Heroes ran circles against Corona del Mar, 4-0, with Lomadilla netting two to set a semis date with the vaunted Cebu Football Club.
The semis match ended 1-1, with Lomadilla again another goal, his fourth for the division, but the team fell short in the shootout, losing 1-0.
