Turner, former US pro league bowler, tops SUGBU’s Sunday Shootout

RICHARD Turner’s consistent play saw him win the Sunday Shootout and Bowler of the Week title of the Sugbuanon BOwlers United on March 23, 2025 at the SM Seaside Bowling Center.

Turner, a former pro league bowler in the US, scored 906 in the elimination round, dropping 256, 215 and 216 in the first three rounds. He bested the sizzling Aui Padawan, who dropped a front 10 before settling for a 7-10 split in the 11th frame for a 266 in round 1.

Had Padawan scored a perfect game, she would have a received a gold 300 ring from the Sugbuanon Bowlers United (SUGBU.)

She had 204, 214 and 198 in the next two rounds to settle for 882, while Jomar Jumapao got third place with 832.

In Division B, Celis Viloria scored a best round of 217 in Game 2 to finish with 812, while Manny BUeno got second place with 740, just six ahead of Robert Sarvida.

In Division C, 83-year-old Dory Enoveso again ruled her class with 669, while Steve Bahani (654) an Flor Hodgkinson (653) got the second and third places, respectively.

In the shootout among the champions, Turner scored 221 to win the weekly title, handedly beating Enoveso (186), and Viloria (165.)
