NESTOR Ranido ruled the elimination round then went on to bag the Mixed Senior title of the 2nd SUGBU Open Championships at the SM Seaside Bowling Center on July 4, 2025.
Ranido started strong in the elims, scoring his best of 228 to finish with 1,710 and enjoy the twice-to-beat edge in the step-ladder finals.
Rommel Calipay finished just five pins behind at 1,705d despite outscoring Ranido by 65 in the final two rounds, while Arthur Tapaya got third place with 1,674. Mon Mirando and Dodong Dante got the last two spots in the top five with 1,651 and 1,645 respectively.
In the first match of the step ladder finals, Calipay defeated Tapaya, 185-167 to arrange a duel with Ranido, who won their match handedly, 214-199.
Tapaya settled for third, while Calipay finished second.
The 2nd SUGBO Open Championships, organized by the Sugbuanon Bowlers United, continues with the Rookie and Classified Open on July 5 before culminating with the Open Masters Division on July 6. It offers almost P500,000 in total prizes.
