ROBERT Sarvida won one of the closest Sunday shootouts of the Sugbuanon Bowlers United after outlasting 86-year-old Orly Enoveso last Sunday, May 11, at the SM Seaside Bowling Center.
After topping their divisions, Sarvida and Enoveso fought pin for pin, tallying 228 pins each after 10 frames before Sarvida got the win owing to a lower handicap than Enoveso.
In the eliminations, Sarvida topped Class B with 797, hitting a high of 222 in the fourth round, while Ted Convocar got the second spot with 775 after bookending his rounds with 207 and 206.
In Class C, Enoveso took the top spot with 691, 51 ahead of second placer Feben Landazabal, while Arthur Tapaya won a close battle against GJ Buyco to win Class A.
Tapaya finished with 825, with a best of 213 in the first round, while Buyco had 202, thanks to a 238 in round 3. In the shootout, Tapaya, who plays with no handicap, settled for third with 212 as Sarvida and Enoveso scored twin 228s.

The Sunday Shootout last May 11 was also the first day of the new oiling pattern–45 feet at 26 ml–and also served as the club’s preparation for the prestigious Philippine National Open at the Sta Lucial Mall in Cainta and the Negros Open next month.
